I was just going to post the NDA was lifted, but figured all the patch messages is as good a way as any to see development history.
All servers are up Build 1386 10/13/2004 5:40 pm
As of now, the NDA for the EverQuest II Beta is officially lifted. We encourage our beta testers to share the experiences they've had in beta with the rest of the EverQuest II community. Many more people who enrolled in the EverQuest II beta program can expect beta keys in their inboxes in the very near future. In addition, in the past few weeks we've let the Legends and Lords of EverQuest players in, and we would like to thank them for their support. We now have four Beta servers up and running including one French and one German server and we've let in over 30,000 players since July. In the near future that number will grow far past that. Keep an eye on your inbox!

*** Headlines *** As many of you know, we have another beta server standing by and ready to take new people who continue to be invited. Before we open it up, we're overdriving beta 1 intentionally this weekend to find out exactly where our servers need the most help, and we'll be trying to turn around hotfixes as quickly as possible. If at any point during the load testing we feel that beta 1 goes beyond the population we'll be able to support once our trouble spots are fixed, we'll open up beta 2 immediately, which will alleviate some of the pressure from beta 1 as new invitees join EQ2. This is a very important part of the testing for us, and we thank you all very much for your continued patience. This crew of beta testers truly remains a pleasure to work and talk with. We're fortunate to have you, and don't think we don't realize that.
- Update on the effects of locked encounters on spells and regeneration. - Important note on crafted spell scrolls. - New heritage quests: FBSS, BBC, and GB! - New feature: prestige zones! - More stability and performance fixes! - Regenerate while standing! - Concentration costs reduced on many buffs! - Updated combat art icons and visuals! - Changes to display settings in the Options menu. Effects of Locked Encounters on Spells and Regeneration Being "in combat" is now defined as being locked to one or more encounters. Certain spells and effects such as Pathfinding and Spirit of the Wolf are suspended while in combat, and the only way to activate them again while fighting is to "Yell for Help." Yelling for help will immediately unlock the encounter(s) and resume any suspended abilities. This change also affects how you regenerate health and power. You no longer gain health and power regeneration benefits while in a locked encounter. As soon as there are no encounters locked to you or your party, full regeneration (including food and drink modifiers) will resume. In short, you should yell for help whenever you intend to flee from a locked encounter. Doing so will restore movement buffs and will increase your regeneration to its full potential. The concept of "combat cool down" (i.e. 15 seconds of elapsed time since your last hostile action) no longer exists. Note: This change does not affect the use of Sprint in any way. It is usable whether in or out of combat. Spell Scroll Crafting Note It is highly recommended that Sage artisans avoid upgrading or crafting any versions of Mage or Priest subclass spells until the Mage and Priest subclass revision/addition is complete, as newer versions of these spells will not reflect old version upgrades. Save your resources. - Adept I and Master I Priest and Mage subclass spell scrolls will not be in-game until after the revision/addition is complete. - A future Update Note entry and forum post will announce when the Priest/Mage subclass revision/addition is complete. *** Quests *** New Quests The Feerrott The Soul of Tarinax Hearts of Ice Tome Quests Temple of Cazic-Thule "The Pirate Queen and the Map" "The Pirate Queen and the Seafury Buccaneers" "The Pirate Queen and the Temple" "The Pirate Queen and the Heart" "The Pirate Queen and the Nightmare Creature" "The Amygamalion - The Form" "The Amygamalion - The Four That Are We" "The Amygamalion - The Dulling" "How to Serve Mortals - Slow Thoughts" "How to Serve Mortals - Flowing Thoughts" Obelisk of Lost Souls "Remembrances - Prime" "Remembrances - Norrath" "Termble Clankerbang Findings, Vol 98" "Ledger - Warmstill" "The Shadows of Lonesome Hollow" History Tomes Misc Deep Marshes The Lady of the Lake Through the Rathe Mountains Red Lake The Far Side of Tears, Part 1 The Far Side of Tears, Part 2 The Far Side of Tears, Part 3 The Far Side of Tears, Part 4 Splitpaw Down Under, Part One Splitpaw Down Under, Part Two Memories of Misty Thicket Remembering Rivervale Item Quests A Tour of the Commonlands Fix-It Quests Commonlands A Strange Stone Wedge Feerrott Krok's Pot Clicky Quests Orcish Wastes A Spiritual Battle Creepy Lake Spirits Seeking the Sacred Tools Mysterious Medallion Catapult Ammo Suppliers Seek the Sullon Centurions A Bleeder in the Haystack Soldier of Misfortune Finish What the Fires Started Voices in the Wind Tower of the Drafling A Voice in the Air Evict the Seelie Guests The Buzzing Flower The Voice Speaks Again The Final Request Heritage Quests - Quests for the Flowing Black Silk Sash, Bone Bladed Claymore, and the Ghoulbane have been added. Here's an old patch message for nostalgic purposes, and so you may get some hints on where some of the quests are ...
Server Status
All servers are up
Patch History
Build 1101
07/21/2004 11:36 am -We pushed a fix for the bug where putting items into a bag in your overflow slot causes a crash. -We fixed the issue with maintained spells which was causing crashes while grouping. If you are experiencing any sort of trouble logging a character in (crash to desktop or return to the character select screen), please visit the beta forums and reply to the PLEASE READ thread with the name of your character.
We'd also appreciate it if you don't try repeatedly if you have login trouble, as that will help keep these zones up for other people trying to play until we can get the issue fixed.
*** Stability and Performance *** - Exiting game with auto-attack enabled no longer crashes.
- You can sit while crouching.
- You don't repeatedly try to sit if you are in waist deep water.
- More memory leak fixes
*** Audio *** - Changed orientation of sound listener when attached to your character to match the camera - this fixes weird audible inconsistencies when looking around your character.
*** Characters, Appearances, and Rendering *** - Flora lighting is correct.
- Specular is always enabled in character create so that erudite runes and hair display properly.
- Vision effects are disabled in character create.
- Age slider always affects the character in character create
*** Controls, Commands, and UI *** - The follow button appears pressed when following.
- Quest journal is resizable now
- Changed XP window to not show frame by default (looked a bit big).
- Increased distance mouse must be moved before a drag begins (from 10 to 20 pixels); hopefully this will cut down on accidental drags of hotbuttons.
- Fixed bug where later chat bubbles could fade out before earlier chat bubbles. Now bubbles fade out from oldest to newest.
- Moved screen shot keymap to "Commands" area under keymaps.
- Fixed cutoff quest helper frame.
- Removed sound for "Failed to find quest item" event.
- Changed XP window to get input, so it will give context menu when clicked on.
- Disabled double-click functionality on char select mode to fix a character selection bug.
- Macros dragged to hotbars were always pointing to first macro. They now point correctly.
- New chat windows are now fully opaque, so players can see how to close them.
- Changed the way new chat windows are created so that they have names "Chat 1...9", you can only have 10 total, and closed ones get reopened before new ones are created. In this way, they work much like the hotbar windows.
- New chat windows initially have nothing go to them. If you close a chat window, it gets reset as well, but those that are kept open remember their settings across sessions.
- /anon now persists
- Guild status is now a flag for /who queries.
- Added ability to "remove_trade_item" (takes slot as parameter) ~ shows up on the context menu.
- Fixed 'could not trade if inventory was full.' The limit was not taking into account how many items you were trading. It now does.
- Fixed 'if either player adds item, adds coin, removes item the "accept" state is reverted'
- Fixed 'dragging to other person's slots start dragging window'
- "/con" prints a descriptive con of the current target to the chat window.
- Mousing over the target window will have the descriptive con of the current target.
- Targetted player corpses should appear as "Corpse of {Playername}" in target window.
- Encounter member names do not fade away when far away.
- Scribed spells and spell scrolls will now tell people which rank of a given spell they are currently looking at or have scribed.
*** Gameplay *** - Rooted Npcs now have a higher tendency to consider targets that are within melee radius.
- Fixed bug where you would receive "can't loot, inventory full" msgs when group mates try to loot.
- Added option to turn on/off toggle auto run with middle mouse button
- Fixed head twitch
- It should now be easier to swim up.
- If you are on tutorial island, you may use the mariner's bell closest to the weapon rack to travel to your friends if they are on a different island than you are.
- Should no longer be able to enter zones you're not flagged for.
- Money does not cause encumbrance now.
- If you notice a bug during a conversation with an NPC, you may now use the button added to the end of the responses, which will let you enter a bug directly from the conversation.
- Fixed disappearing items in trade on accept. Some updates (accept, reject) were not sending along the trade items but were expecting them.
- When names are set to show "Always", they will now fade in around 20m away, and reach full opacity at 10m.
- Check out the new Waypoint window, available by pressing the EQ button in the lower left (or Ctrl-W by default). This is a new window that will let you select between active wisps easier, when you have multiple quests that have directional wisps associated with them, and will let you find group members more easily.
- Walking (or sneaking) forward when obstructed by a step no longer causes you to strafe
-Boats are working but have some issues. Use then at your own risk
-Fixed player stuck bugs in:
Nettleville Hovel
Starcrest Commune
Qeynos North
Qeynos Harbor
Wailing Caves
Freeport North
Stonestair Byway
Big Bend
Beggar's Court -Fixed falling out of world bugs in:
Antonica
The Baubbleshire

- The difficulty of the Freeport Crusader class quest and the Druid class quest has decreased.
- The Lost Spellbook Fragment will now be destroyed after the item is examined and the quest is granted. *** Merchants *** - Merchants will now buy all items except bags.
- Profession specific items have been added to Merchant lists.
- These changes affect Commonlands, Antonica, and several zones within Freeport and Qeynos. *** Items *** - A vast majority of items have had their magical stats modified.
- Bucklers can now be used by the Fighter archetype.
- Collection items now have quests associated with them. Use examine to add items to your collections. Trade with your friends to complete full sets. NOTE: Currently, when you add an item to one of your collections, all items of that same type will be removed from your inventory. If, for example, you have 3 duck feathers, and you add one to your collection, all 3 will be removed. This will not affect any other feathers you have in your inventory. *** Misc *** - Several test NPCs have been removed from Orcish Wastes and Commonlands.

-All PC male & female VO is the same Build 1093
07/16/2004 11:09 am *** Known Issues *** -Freeport Cleric Class Quest: currently the player has to go around the corner from Modinite Z'vol and use a mariner's bell to enter the threshing. This widget is a place holder and will be replaced.
-This build has a new mariner's bell (temporary appearance) on the Isle of Refuge that lets you choose a friend to zone to. The functionality for this bell does not yet exist.
-For quests involving instanced zones (such as citizenship and class quests): If the instanced zone is exited before the quest is completed, the quest will most likely have to be reinitiated. For example: If a player dies during their citizenship quest, they will have to speak to the quest npc again to properly reinitiate the quest scripting in the instanced zone.
-If a player dies in an instanced zone, they will respawn in a static parent zone. This may cause players to spawn in the Freeport sewers or the Qeynos catacombs, if they die during their citizenship quests. This may be a bit surprising if the player has never been to those zones before.
-/exit, /quit, /camp , or /camp desktop may cause a client crash notification pop up. This problem is intermittant.
-There is no mouse over glow or tooltip for the Makeshift Arena in North Qeynos for the Qeynos Warrior Class Cap quest.
-Ghosts encountered during the Freeport Shaman class quest have a tendency to disappear when attacking. These mobs can be targeted easily before combat ensues.
-If a player zones with a radial menu on screen, this will cause other radial menus on zone objects to malfuncton for the client. This issue can be fixed by camping.
*** Stability and Performance *** - Reduced memory usage of client by approximately 80MB
- Loading hitches when new PCs and NPCs come into range should be less severe
- Many improvements to sound streaming performance - Hopefully fewer hitches while moving around
- Fixed client crash if you ever opened the options window.

- Rain rendering has been sped up
- Rare crash bug in moving hotkeys around has been fixed. Most often noticed when a player attempts to remove the bug key from the default layout.
- Commonlands - First pass pathing optimization. Zones with thousands of NPCs should be more playable. We won't say "considerably" more playable until we're able to see it in action, on production server hardware, with real players in it. A second improvement pass is now in progress and is expected to be completed next week.
-Optimized Sunken City art assets increasing frame rate in zone.
-Getting stuck bug fixes in the following zones:
Stormhold

Big Bend

invite to raid -- invites player's group to join your raid (or form one if you are currently in a single group). Only if you are the raid leader, or group leader of single group.
leave group -- Causes you to leave your group. Only available on the context menu for your character and only when in a group, causes you to leave your group.

Please offer feedback if you find instances that do not make sense. Higher colored NPCs for a given level are more difficult than their lower colored counterparts.
- Left click select and right click menu should be more responsive.
- Added more tooltips to options.
- Dragging and dropping buttons no longer makes client explode.
- Recipe con color scheme now uses same con colors as NPC targets.
- Furniture Placement and Object Movement mode improvements:
Entering placement mode forces mouse look
Object being moved is always in the center of the screen as you look around
When object is in a location that is not valid for placement it will glow red
Attempting to place an object (left-clicking) while red will play an error sound and not place the object.
If the object is in a valid location then it will glow green
To cancel move mode you now need to hit ESCAPE instead of the right mouse button
Rotating the object can now be done via the numpad minus and plus keys as well as the mousewheel
Changing camera distance is disabled in move mode since it was conflicting with the use of the controls for rotating objects
Objects now behave the same whether placing them from inventory or move around an already placed object
There should be no way for a player to make their objects "disappear" by clicking to place an object when in an invalid location or over an npc, etc.
- ENTER key no longer defaults to "Loot All" with the loot window active.
- Tradeskill component autoselection -- if you are down to two stacks of the same item for a given piece -- 20 and 3, the 3 is chosen, not the 20.
- Merchant window: Putting 0 in the sold quantity no longer sells the item
- Can now ctrl-click to deselect something out of a list. *** Gameplay *** - Fixed a bug that was preventing level 2-9, 11-19, 21-29, etc, NPCs from gaining their proper hit points. This has forced a rebalance of NPCs of those levels. The NPCs that you will see in the next patch are only the FIRST RUN of what to expect. Please do not panic if NPCs seem universally too easy or too hard.
- Added Armor Factor statistic to replace Mitigation Percent on item inspection. Armor now has an AC value that more clearly communicates how higher level items actually do help you a lot more. Keeping your equipment up to date as you level is an important factor of EQ2, and this is now much more clear.
- Added Block Factor statistic to replace Block Percent on shield inspection, as with Armor.
- If you are not able to make full use of a piece of Armor or a Shield due to being under the Required Skill, the Armor or Block Factors are shown in red next to the ideal value for the item, similar to the way Recommended Level items work in EverQuest Live.
- If your pet kills the last NPC in an encounter, you will now be able to loot the chest.
- Added warning messages to encumbrance level changes.
- Group members must now be within a legal level range of the highest member of the group to receive experience and quest updates for kills. "Legal level range" is defined as the highest level member of the group would get exp for killing something the level of the player.
- Added warning messages when joining a group or adding members to a group to any player that is now too low level. A message is also sent in place of the exp gained message explaining why no exp was given.
- In order for NPCs to give up on you, you currently had to get more than 50m away from them. To assist with escaping, if an NPC pursues you more than a certain distance from its home, it will decide it's tired of chasing you. This distance may change from zone to zone, from encounter to encounter.
- Encounters no longer break when an NPC cannot find a path to you. In this case, NPCs will now teleport to you, as in EverQuest. If you see spurious encounter breaks or further encounter debugging messages, please /bug them.
- Fixed infinite sprint bug
- NPCs now call for help more frequently. Due to a bug, they were only calling for help when initally being engaged.

Please /bug any other map issues.

*** Misc Sound Fixes *** -Ambience / Reverb:
ambient sound/reverb to Qeynos & Freeport single rooms
-Changed reverbs in Fallengate
-Made ambience changes (owls & gulls) to tutorial island & freeport districts -PC Voice over
-Removed all player character placeholder combat VO so all defaults to male or female human , this will alleviate the current problem of some PC characters having 2 different voices for their yells and exertion sounds. We are recording custom VO for all race and gender types for PCs and will swap out this place holder VO with the real thing soon.
Build 1077
07/09/2004 2:09 pm *** IMPORTANT NOTE FOR EXISTING CHARACTERS! Citizenship quests have changed significantly in this update. If your character is currently in the middle of a citizenship quest (e.g. You have completed your Inn-room introductory quest but are not yet a citizen of Qeynos or Freeport) you will need to delete your character and restart. Characters who have already progressed past their citizenship quests may wish to try them out with a new character, as they now provide all new challenges with significantly improved rewards! We did not wish to force a player wipe for this issue which affects a minority of characters.
*** Other Known Issues: -Citizenship Quests: If you get stuck in the citizenship instanced zone or have issues completing the quest, logging out and back should solve the problem. -Citizenship Quests: Some zone objects such as doors need to be double clicked to activate them. -Citizenship Quest Failure: If you fail a citizenship quest, you may be transported to the incorrect zone. -Class Quests: Certain class quests have difficulty issues and are currently more difficult than they are intended to be. -Combat Animations: Anyone who is dual wielding or has a shield equipped will not animate while in combat. -Combat: Considering Opponents: The consider system has been a source of confusion for some players. Please take both the color of the NPC and their level into account when assessing difficulty of NPCs. Each level of NPC has a number of potential difficulties. (In EQ2, there are "easy" level 10's "boss" level 10's, and many shades in between!) -Community Window: Please avoid using the friends and ignore lists. They are not yet functional. Using the Ignore list may crash your client. -Death: Dying in a zone that does not have a respawn point can cause an issue where the player has to revive twice. You will leave two spirit shards, but not be penalized twice. The second shard that you leave does not actually subtract a spirit rank from your maximum spirit cap. -Death: Spirit shards may not be visible underwater. If you die underwater, you will not be able to see your corpse from above the water. If you die in shallow water, you may need to follow the golden wisp trail to the approximate area your corpse is in and hunt-and-click to reabsorb your spirit shard. -Death: When a character dies, they may respawn but in a "dead" position. They will remain in this position until they zone or camp. This is a visual error only. -Merchants: Spell scrolls do not indicate class/level required. The current spells they are all selling are soon to be changed wholesale in an upcoming update. Details on what spells are available to which classes, at which levels, will be posted in the beta forums. -User Interface: Your UI settings may revert back to default options upon crash. -Weapons: Ranged weapons are not yet completely functional. They are best avoided in this build.
*** Game Updates
** Art: -Added more LOD's for NPC's -The Graveyard has undergone some optimizations -The Sunken City has undergone some optimizations -Enchanted lands has undergone some optimizations -Completed full revision of character skins -Added full human skintone range to Halflings and Gnomes -Graphical errors in Ratonga armor have been corrected
** Content: -Far too many changes and additions to list individually. Explore and enjoy!
** Controls: -Ctrl+Right/Left while in a text entry box jump words again -The way items are given to you when you double-click Garven Tralk's weapon rack in tutorial island has changed.
** Performance: -UI tga textures load between 5 and 25 times faster depending on texture resolution. -Zones with lots of NPCs in range of you now have a significantly improved framerate. -Fixed group crash bug if PlayerA invites PlayerB, PlayerC invites PlayerA, PlayerB accepts, and then PlayerA accepts.
** Visuals: -Rain should be significantly faster on low end machines. -Rain splashes no longer glow at night. -Base appearance tints should be working again -You can disable environment shadows while shadows from off-screen is enabled. -Players now show up in mirrors when in first person. -Switching from custom to one of the non-custom performance settings will no longer switch back to custom immediately.
** User Interface: -Removed Load button on character select -Re-added Load button to race/gender in character creation -Fixed backgrounds on load/save customizations -Removed race/gender text from load/save customizations (obsolete) -Improved chat text shadowstyle -Set shadowstyle for chat text field to match chat text -Made spell combat bubbles stay onscreen slightly longer than mundane ones -Tightened up Target Window slightly, to better align with Player window in default letterbox setting -Fixed the default positions of windows; they had crept away from the default letterbox setting -Changed default window settings to look less cluttered by default, yet still be intuitive -Changed hide-frames-in-letterbox behavior to be intuitive -Added new art for default channel select button -Target name opacity no longer fades in and out; rather, it's RGB actually gets brighter and dimmer. Looks a lot better, and makes it much more obvious who your target (especially when in encounters). -Blue con is now lighter and the red aggro glow dimmer, so that they look better together -NPCs only show manabars if they drop below 75% mana; this eliminates a lot of unnecessary bars -When combat bubbles start to fade, they stop drawing their drop shadow; this eliminates the ugly "fade to black" effect -By default, "Miss" is not shown unless the attack was a spell/art/ability. This cuts down on the clutter a ton. -Font size can be set with /chat_fontsize -Option screen scrolls more than one pixel at a time -Map now highlights current location on world/city map -Chat channel filters use category checkboxes again. You may need to reset them -Your target will be cleared when the targeted NPC is killed, allowing it to switch automatically to the next thing that performs a hostile act against you. - The EverQuest II Team
Build 1054
07/02/2004 Some people are getting stuck in Mizan's cellar. If this happens to you, right click on the ladder to get an EXIT option.
'X' is sit...'C' makes you look like your sitting but no regen. -Missing LOD's are turned off by default and you will see nothing when an object switches to one of these LOD's. If you would prefer to see missing LOD's as a pink box, go to your EQ2 install directory and create a text file called "eq2.ini". Add the line below and save the file. cl_placeholder_base_lods 1 -new input control behavior- can turn character with mouse by holding left mouse button in all 3rd person ground input controls (not yet for 3rd person swim)
-added switch for left/right mouse button to turn character
-updated left-click select and right-click menu behavior to work with new controls
-added "Turn character with mouse button" to Options menu (Options->Controls) - "Right button" or "Left button"
-fixed input controls when ui window is blocking input - fixes strange camera and player turning behaviors caused by opening the console window at certain moments
-at low frame rate when facing away from a target in 3rd person camera in autoattack with combatautoface on player facing no longer jitters -You will now only receive experience, and quest rewards if you are within a set range of the npc when it dies.
- The range is specified in mudlib/vdl/system/experience.xml and is currently set to 50m
- In order to receive credit for encounter bonus exp, and encounter completion quests you must be within this same range of the last npc killed.
- This range is ignored (considered infinite) if you are in a pocket zone. TestTrack Bugs -TT 7574: You can no longer alter group options (loot method, autosplit, etc) while locked to an encounter.
-TT 9831: House items no longer collide with themselves while in move mode which could allow you to place the object floating in the air. -saving a character customization pops up a confirmation for 5 seconds (ncs_hide_savewindow_ms) changing resolution fullscreen prompts if you want to use the resolution (defaults to no after 10 seconds)
-The good/evil buttons were changing character races if you loaded from the character select screen.
-Hotkeys windows automatically adjust their size so all buttons are visible, all rows have the same number of buttons, and there is no excess space.
-Players will no longer get new lotto loot windows when dead. -Currently open (but not yet responded to) loot windows, close when you die. -Have to be within reward range to get the lotto loot window when a creature dies. -If you submit your requests for a lotto and then die, your requests will still be processed and you will still get the items if you win the lotto.
-Reenabled auto-add of new spell/arts/abilities to hotkey windows. It first tries to add to open slots in primary window. If that fails, it tries to add to the secondary hotbar (if shown). If that fails, tries the tertiary. -You won't gain spirit experience until level 3 or above.
Added messages for gaining and losing spirit ranks -Fixed group crash bug if PlayerA invites PlayerB, PlayerC invites PlayerA, PlayerB accepts, and then PlayerA accepts. Build 1043
06/24/2004 10:32 am A player wipe has been done. This is due to the design teams incredible amount of work on fixing the class and citizenship quests, which now should be working as originally designed. Anyone who would have reached that level in the previous build would have had a corrupt character as of this build. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we think you'll be quite happy being able to get past level 6, and getting citizenship in the cities. Known Issue
Player pets will crash the client when they attack other NPCs. This issue should be resolved next push to Beta.
*** zone resources once again get unloaded when you zone when targeting self with F1 combat auto face stops

The dropdown box was widened in the option screens.
Maintained window uses dynamic data (check everything) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 1040
06/22/2004 5:31 pm Fixed crash with mismatch racegender data Changed bumpscale to use 0.05-0.20 instead of 0.0-1.0 combined some options tabs into 'advanced display' tab combined 'mouse' and 'keyboard' tabs into 'control' tab adjusted names of sound options and layout of 'sound' tab with John Abad rearranged options, reduced number of categories, added bunch of tooltips and changed some option names to be more descriptive this is a first pass at making the options window easier to use. please try the options window and provide feedback fixed mirror shader when mirror reflections are turned off TestTrackBugs TT#9425: /clearspellbook can now take a target. TT#9379: You can no longer manipulate inventory while dead. TT#8526: /goto will now do a partial match. Invisible windows will no longer hinder placement of house items The demo disk UI is now read from DemoCreateUI/demo not UI/default. TestTrackBugs
TT 9470. Quickbar page is saved. Use /addexperience until you ding. Health/power should be set to max. Complete heal/power on spirit rank increase. Kill yourself. Respawn and collect your shard. Use /addexperience until your spirit rank increases. Health/power should be set to max. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 1035
06/21/2004 2:02 pm fixed "number of sounds doesn't match number of volumes" type errors Pink boxes are only on critter that are missing lods Character create is more responsive, but switch characters will be dark while the textures are loading. Player's character shouldn't glow. You can exit water without a ramp. TestTrackBugs TT 9601 - target ring is disabled when critters leave the world. 1st person is transitioned to temporarly when camera clearance goes below 0.4 meters TestTrackBugs TT8203 - enabled water environment visuals when camera is just above the top of the water environment Experience for killing npcs is now based on a combination of level, tier, and size of player party Added /tier which will display the tier of your target or yourself if you don't have a target to assist in debugging exp gain (GM only Encounter bonus exp is now based on the number of creatures in the encounter, the exp they gave your party for killing them, and a zone and spawncamp location type (outdoor wanderer, dungeon boss, etc )modifier Number of intended groups is now calculated based on the total point value of all mobs in the encounter Num intended groups of zero (solo content) are no more, they are now num intended groups of 1, however encounters with low point totals (currently below 50 points but this is settable in experience.xml) will not award encounter bonus exp. Added /disable_combat_exp each use toggles the state. When combat experience is disabled, the character will not gain any experience from combat. Con system changes: There is now only one con (and the crowd rejoices) Con is promoted or demoted based on the tier of the npc NPCs that would have conned grey (no reward) do not have their color promoted even if they are high tier NPCs that would have conned at least green are not demoted below green as they will still be worth reward show group members an onscreen message/sound when a quest is completed Ensure that when a player is given a quest reward, they also get a popup text message informing them of this, including what the item is. IntRange options now show the correct value in the textbox Closing CreateFromRecipe window with escape no longer locks that recipe. r_target_effect_encounter_con removed from option.vdl login dialog now has focus set properly (name or password if name is set) Added target_next_encounter_npc and target_prev_encounter_npc to keyboard options Made encounter member names show by default (didn't realize I'd turned that off) Fixed some bugs in target window display for dead creatures (sometimes wrong color or outline). There is still a bug related to deferred death that causes the name to not display "corpse of..." in the target window. Made skill con colors draw from Color Manager values Lightened up gray con a bit Tradeskills do not automatically add themselves to quickbar when received "Hail" no longer on default quickbar, since it is usually very easy to hail an NPC by double-clicking Popup message window shrinks itself to snugly fit text, so shouldn't be such an obstacle to clicking now Added slider under User Interface, "Popup Message Speed", so popup message can be made to disappear faster Sped up default times for popup events to be about 33% faster by default. Through the slider you can make them about twice as fast on top of that. Windows that don't save their settings don't give "Window Settings" as a context option TestTrackBugs TT3498: Added VERB_DISTANCES.INFINITE to constants.lua, for group-related verbs like invite, where distance shouldn't matter. TT 7580: Added Run/Walk ability button to Abilities page TT 7848: Re-examining an item that already has an examine window up will bring it to the front TT 8808: Added level to abbreviated tooltip for spells/arts/abilities, to help remember what they are on hotbar TT 8404: Power and health bars should no longer be shown for things that have no health or power. TT 9271: Dropping anything on the Effects window now ignores it and clears the cursor. TT 9281: Settings window stays open, even if window it is settings for closes. Exception: if parent window is set to destroy on close, settings window will close as well. TT 9285: Double-clicking on Quest Helper will open Quest Journal to the quest. TT 9476: Experience in XP display was getting rounded up to 100% when at like 99.6% TT 9589: Group context menu options no longer range-dependent TT 9594: Popup msg speed increased, and slider in options added to speed it up even further TT 6593: Examine window for ranged weapons now shows "Wield Style: Ranged" to be more in line with other weapons. Also shows in tooltip. Fixed cures/dispels. Would have only worked before with beneficial spells that dispel beneficial spells, hostile spells that cure hosile spells. Fixed bug with the spell and direct mod systems whereby it wasn't updating current resource pool values along with the max in response to an attribute change -- was only doing so for maxmana/maxhealth mods. This is the "Characters spawn without all of their HP/power" bug. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Build 1029
06/17/2004 4:25 pm -Character create demo no longer has options and credits buttons - characters should not be seen in bind pose when initially loaded - NOTE: Iksar female could still have scales extended when first loaded because that is not part of her normal idle - equipping shield no longer forces dual wield combat stance -the crates on the tutorial boat should be consistently visible (yet again) -You can't climb any surface with slope greater than 71 degrees. -Ducking currently has no effect on you collision model. I.E. You always collide as if you are a ducking ogre. -Third person camera doesn't move in without a collision. -TT 9023 - ui drop down crash -TT 8067 You can fight crabs that chase you over rocks again -TT 8467 May have fixed the cause of NPC's never becoming visible -TT 5355 Combat camera with black ooze work -TT 7718 - Removed zbuffered name support because it causes names and other attached ui elements to intersect the character and world geometry. -TT 8069 - Names would get clip sometimes. This only happened with world space names. Run speed more closely matches the animation. Some still need a bit of tweaking. By default there is a target and mouse over glow for characters. You can adjust these in the options. -TT 8401 - Portals are consistently enabled when the associated doors open. -TT 9289 - Player pets are no longer targeted with target nearest NPC. -You will get stuck much less often. Please re-test all of the open stuck bugs if possible. -It is more difficult to climb unclimbable slopes. -Your falling velocity is no longer limited. -autorun can now be turned on while forward is pressed in 3rd person combat -starting autorun while in combat makes character start into the screen as it should -autorun can now be turned on while forward is pressed in 1st person cam modes -autorun can now be turned on while forward is pressed in 3rd person swimming -fixed head tracking jitter that would appear when player selected self -TT7608 TT7609 mouse sensitivity works again
Player Housing: - Players with access level "friend" can now move furniture (cannot pickup or place still) - Destroy verb removed from house items (you have to pickup the item and then delete it from inventory) - Added button on the sell tab of the housing UI (ONLY when inside the house) to allow the user to pickup all items in their house at once (assuming they have space in their inventory) - You can no longer relinquish your house if it contains any items. - Anyone can open the housing UI while inside a player house by typing /house - Players (restricted to owners and trustees) can now set a default access level on their house. This is the access granted to anyone who is not specifically on the access list.
Experience messages: Changed you experience gain messages to NOT include the actual amount of experience earned unless your GM level is at GM(20) or higher.
-listguilds CS command - lists all guilds on the current server. -experience cs command -TT#4132: set_[coin] commands now accept standard targetting. experience [name] will report the amount of experience the character has, if online. -/wipe [player] Will confirm that you really want to wipe the player's inventory. NOTE: For safety reasons, this command requires that you actually type in the name of the character you want to wipe. It will not work on the targetted character. -Mousing over the Target, Player, and Group windows give a large tooltip. Mousing over specific elements, like the healthbar or concentration gems, give specific tooltip. The target window tooltip explains what the tier icon means qualitatively, to help explain them to new players. -For most encounter break conditions, the player will get popup message and sound effect announcing the encounter break, and the reason why it broke. The only conditions that aren't currently communicated are breaking because of a failed pathfind, and because of /killing an encounter member. Breaking by distance, NPC interference, yelling for help, or guard interference are all reported to players. Lock icons appear to the right of the names of players and NPCs that are currently in locked encounters that you are not a part of. You never see a lock icon for your own encounters the lock indicates that you are locked out. Broken locks currently indicate broken enocounters; this will be changed to a more appropriate icon soon. -TT 9147, 8410, 7445 - text too long gets clipped in reply button TT 5567, 8519 - reply button moved beyond edge of screen acts strange -5 experience bubbles not 10. TT 9262. -Help, ChatOptions, Quest Journal trees behave more like window tree controls. - Quickbar has context menus back - Drag window cursor shows up as expected a bit more often now. (Please report it as a bug if the drag cursor shows up when it shouldn't or doesn't show up where it should.) - Windows can be attached to the letterbox frame. -TT 8804 - spell examine windows would occasionally not open. (tiling routine was placing them off the screen) Experience bubbles are now 1/10 the required (was 1/10, then 1/5, now 1/10 again) -Item counts are back -TT 9215 - removing an item from the quickbar didn't save the change on the server. It now does. -TT 9211 - you can no longer drag empty quickbar slots -Character create demo no longer has options and credits buttons -Toggleable spells: Sprint is toggleable Clicking the sprint icon in the spellbook while sprint is active will cancel sprint. TT8831 - Spell: Shaman: Umbral Brace: Canceling the spell heals the target allowing the spell to be used as a heal (D) Fixed TT8847 - Spell: Mage: Lightning Flow: Maintained Buff Icon remains for 6 seconds after the last tick of damage has been done by this spell. (C) Fixed MISC: Please verify that maintained spells are working properly across the board. Please check hostile, beneficial, and group spells for initial application, cancellation by caster, cancellation by target, cancellation when the target dies while having a maintained spell on them, reapplication of friendly spells with zoning, etc. TT9103 - Subclass spells are not granted when listed in the appropriate class vdl Make yourself a level 19 cleric. /setlevel 20, choose Inquisitor. You should get Immediate Vindication. TT8559 - Abilties: Scout: Hide: Hide allows players to jump even though it restricts players from moving (C) Fixed by someone else. You can no longer jump when no-move is turned on. Hide no longer exists, but you can test with /script zone:doDirectCastSpell( "test/root", "avatar", self ). TT8650 - Spell: Priest: Rekindle Life: Spell can be cast in a combat situation (B) Works fine. 15 seconds after the caster commits his last hostile act he is no longer considered to be "in combat' regardless of what is hitting him, or what his group members are fighting. Perhaps we need a better description. TT8971 - Gameplay: Combat Arts are not triggering auto attack correctly Fixed. Auto-attack can again be toggled on/off during spell casting. Auto-attack is turned on automatically when a user begins casting a combat art which makes a melee attack. MISC: NPC aggro/response code re-arranged a bit. Please do a smell-test on combat, group combat, and spell casting, particularly when multiple people are beating on the same target. My changes in this area should be transparent. BUG NPCs being stunned with a spell turn to face you before sticking in place. Fixed. They'll still draw their weapons, go into attack stance. I'm told that part is an art issue. For the purpose of this, NPC is defined as the ultimate owner of an entity being an NPC. For example, the pet of a PC is not an "npc" for the purpose of this discussion. PC is the same, with the pet of a PC being considered a "pc" for this purpose.
- NPCs can perform hostile acts against anyone on their hatelist 2) NPCs will only perform hostile acts against other NPCs when that NPC is on their hatelist. 3) Encounter-locked NPCs will only perform hostile acts against things on their hatelist. 4) Non-locked NPCs can only perform hostile acts against PC if the NPC is a member of a KOS faction.
Most of the rules have to due with the authorization of AoE attacks, as NPCs will and would never overtly target something not on their hatelist of their own accord. Here's some real-world examples of how the world should be affected:
A) If a guard AoEs a critter, players he's supposed to be protecting won't get hit. B) If a group is encounter locked to a dragon, and a second group runs by when dragon breathes fire, the second group will NOT get hit. C) If a KOS dragon is not yet encounter locked, and he attacks one group with fire while a second group runs by, the second group WILL get hit, even if members of the second group were not yet "noticed" by the dragon and just happened to be in range of the blast.
CodeNote: This all working is predicated on the fact that encounter locking removes all non-locked entities from the hatelist.
